Clovers Claim the 2024 ONSL Championship in Dominating Style
The Clayton Clovers finished their season this past Friday with a 9-4 victory over the Sandhills Bogeys. This victory sealed their fate, winning them the 2024 ONSL Championship in two games over the Bogeys.
Before the Championship win, the Clovers were coming off a historical summer of regular-season play. The team went 33-3 overall and 20-3 in their division on their way to claiming the 1st/2nd half regular season division championship. This was noted by team management “as not enough” for this ambitious team as they made their way into the 2024 ONSL Playoffs.
The team started their playoff run with a two games to none victory over the Reidsville Luckies in the Quarterfinals. The Lexington Flying Pigs were next on the docket, the Flying Pigs were the “toughest test yet” according to team owner Louis DeCarolis. Rallied behind the will of team spirit, the Clovers took down the Flying Pigs two games to none in the Semifinals.
The stage was set for the ONSL Finals, as the Sandhills Bogeys squared up for a demanding challenge. Their tough play was not enough as the Clovers won game one 11-7 and game two 9-4. This sweeping victory marked the second league championship in franchise history, and the first since the team joined the ONSL.
“We knew this team had high expectations coming into the season, but we had no idea how good they could become. The Clayton Clovers just capped off the most historical season in franchise history, and we could not be more proud of this organization.” Stated Jeff Musgrove, Majority Partner of the Clayton Clovers.
Brady Nathison of the Clayton Clovers won the Postseason MVP. Nathison achieved this impressive award batting .565 with two doubles, six RBIs, and four stolen bases. The team has high hopes going into the 2025 season as they look to repeat the magic of the 2024 ONSL Championship.
