Clayton Clovers Name Shane Garrett Head Baseball Coach
Lenoir-Rhyne assistant brings collegiate coaching experience and a player-development focus to the Clovers
Clayton, NC – The Clayton Clovers today announced the hiring of Shane Garrett as the team’s new head baseball coach. Garrett joins the Clovers from Lenoir-Rhyne University, where he currently serves as an assistant coach.
Garrett brings a strong background in collegiate baseball as both a player and a coach. Before Lenoir-Rhyne, he held a coaching role at Louisburg College, where he also began his playing career. He went on to play at Greensboro College, where he was a versatile utility player who saw time at first base, in the outfield, and behind the plate as a catcher. That experience across multiple positions gives Garrett a well-rounded view of the game that he brings to his work with players.
As head coach, Garrett plans to build a winning atmosphere focused on player development, strong work ethic, and attention to detail. His approach centers on a competitive culture rooted in discipline, accountability, and strong relationships with his players.
“I’m extremely grateful and excited for the opportunity to lead the Clayton Clovers,” said Garrett. “I look forward to building a competitive culture centered around hard work, accountability, and developing young men on and off the field.”
Garrett will begin his duties immediately and will lead the Clovers into the 2027 season.
